July 26, 2010, (Sawf News) - Dostana 2 - headlining Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Katrina Kaif - has hit a roadblock due to creative differences between producer Karan Johar and helmer Taran Mansukhani.
According to the Mumbai Mirror, Karan does not approve of Mansukhani's script.
Surprisingly, Abhishek seemed to have liked the script. Earlier this month, he told the TOI:
"Initially I was against doing a sequel to Dostana. I couldn't see how Tarun Mansukhani could make it funnier. How could he rise to the occasion? Tarun said, 'Let me write the script. You'll be the first person I'd narrate it to. If you don't like it then I'd throw it out.' Believe me Dostana 2 would be twice as funny as Dostana."
Karan, of course, is the person who calls the shots, not Abhishek, and Karan has strongly advised Tarun to take time off and spruce up the script.
Filming was scheduled to begin in the first week of August in London and the lead stars - Abhishek and John - had put off their other projects for Dostana 2.
Abbas-Mustan's The Italian Job remake starring Abhishek had been rescheduled to November to give time to the star to complete Dostana 2. John Abraham had taken a rain check on the cop drama Kaakha Kaakha remake for the sake of Dostana.
Tarun is currently struggling to ensure that Dostana 2 release date is not impacted.
"Karan and I have collectively taken a call to delay the start of filming by a few months so as to gain more prep time. Dostana will still release as per schedule in the second half of 2011," said Tarun.
